Fall for the Book at George Mason University

Every fall, George Mason University hosts Fall for the Book and gives readers an opportunity to connect with authors.

This year’s festival will run from September 26 thru 30, 2012.

Some of the events require tickets, such as Alice Walker, Neil Gaiman, and Michael Chabon. Reservations for those authors can be made by emailing reservations@fallforthebook.org. Most of the other events are open to the public.

Many of the events are held at George Mason’s main campus in Fairfax, but some are not. So be sure to check the schedule for locations as well as times.

You could be a student at Carnegie Mellon or Stanford, for free…………

Open Culture is a website that has a listing of many, many free online courses from top-notch universities. Their link is here. And yes, you read that correctly, they are FREE. Yippee Skippee.

The classes are from Harvard, Yale, Stanford, UC Berkely, Carnegie Mellon, Texas A&M, and the like.

There are hundreds of classes covering a wide range of topics. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to learn something new or for you high school student to pursue an interest before committing to a major.
